Mike Carden was born in Schamburg, Illinois. Mike Carden and William Beckett met in 2002, they used to be rivals in the local Chicago music scene. Mike Carden and William Beckett soon added bass player, Adam T. Siska and guitarist Adrian LaTrace Jr., and drummer Mike DelPrincipe to the band. They soon recorded their debut EP, The Academy in 2004 for LLR Recordings, the same label that released Beckett's solo project Remember Maine's debut album The Last Place You Look in 2002. When they recorded their debut EP, The Academy, Pete Wentz heard the album and was so impressed that he convinced his label Fueled By Ramen to fly out and see them. After, they were signed by Fueled By Ramen, they headed to Florida to record their debut album Almost Here, while recording some changes were made. Adrian LaTrace Jr,, their second guitarist was replaced by Tom Conrad. then, Mike DelPrincipe was replaced by Andy "The Butcher" Mrotek. After that, they finally released Almost Here on February 8, 2005. Mike made a cameo appearance in one of Fall Out Boy's videos, "A Little Less Sixteen Candles and A Little More Touch Me" He was one the vampire dandies in the video.
